Founded by Bryan Lunduke and Chris Fisher, an avid Linux user and podcaster, the company only had 2 shows in 2008, The Linux Action Show! and CastaBlasta. It now has 4 active shows including The Linux Action Show!, STOked, TechSNAP and SciByte. All the shows are streamed live and when shows are not being streamed there are usually reruns of past shows, reruns of the Computer Chronicles or movies and other shows licensed under the Creative Commons.

The Linux Action Show!

The Linux Action Show!, commonly abbreviated to "LAS," is Jupiter Broadcasting's second show (following CastaBlasta), and also one of the most successful. The show is hosted by Chris Fisher and Allan Jude, and follows the latest news in the free and open source world. It was previously hosted by Chris Fisher and Bryan Lunduke, with Allan Jude stepping in if Lunduke was unavailable, but Lunduke took a "Sabbatical" and Jude replaced him indefinitely following the August 27 2011 episode[1].

The show is a long format show, and usually begins with a General App Pick and Chris' Android App Pick, which are the host's app recommendations to the audience of the show.[2] Following this Chris presents a very short "runs Linux" segment, where he showcases a particular, usually important or well known, computer system or infrastructure that runs a Linux based OS. Then there is a long news section that covers all of the major Linux related news in the past week before the hosts move on to the main subject of the show, which is usually a review of a new Linux distribution[3] or an interview with a major figure in the Linux or open source world,[4] including Mark Shuttleworth of Ubuntu/Canonical,[5] Jono Bacon of Jokosher,[6] Justin Steinman (VP of Marketing for Novell),[7] and Linspire CEO Kevin Carmony.[8]

The show is provided in audio and video formats and is streamed live every Sunday 10:00 PST, before being released that night at 20:00. From August 2009 to February 2010 the Linux Action Show briefly changed its name to the Computer Action Show.

Inactive and Discontinued Shows

Jupiter@Nite

Jupiter@Nite was originally a daily podcast that aired Monday to Thursday in a short half hour format. The show covered a wide variety of topics that were of interest to the hosts, Chris Fisher and Jeremy Randall, including science, gaming, flims and TV. However, as Jupiter Broadcasting expanded and other shows began - such as SciByte and MMOrgue - Jupiter@Nite seemed to become less relevant, so the final airing of the show in its original format was on May 26, 2011.[9]

The new format Jupiter@Nite was first aired on June 23, 2011[10] and is now broadcast live each Thursday night at 7pm PT. The hosts (Chris Fisher, Jeremy Randall, Bryan Lunduke and John Unckles) discuss "nerd and geek" news in a relaxed, unedited and conversational format. The show generally follows a pattern of opening with news from the TV, film and comic book industries - which takes up most of the show - follows by a weekly watch along segment. In this segment, dubbed "moving picture happy fun mutual time" by Bryan, the hosts and the live audience (present in the Jupiter Broadcasting IRC chatroom) choose a film or short TV series that they will all watch in the coming week, the hosts then discuss the show in the next episode. The format of this particular segment is very similar to a book discussion club.

Bryan Lunduke's Jupiter Files

The Jupiter Files is a weekly show, hosted by Bryan Lunduke, that covers UFOs, supernatural phenomenon and conspiracies.

Northwest Goofballs

Northwest Goofballs is an audio only podcast that talks about football. It is an irregular podcast, only active during football season.

The MMOrgue

The MMOrgue is a show hosted by Jeremy Randall that "takes a high level view at [MMO] industry events." Jeremy links every story covered by the show to how it will affect the entire genre, rather than just the specific subject of a new game, or an already released game's success or failure.[11]

The format of the show is one that is highly edited, and short format (the show is only 20 minutes long), in contrast with some of Jupiter Broadcasting's other shows which tend to have a longer format and less edited structure (such as TechSNAP and The Linux Action Show!). Each show is usually split up into two or three short news stories that have a common theme, such as upcoming games[12] or past failures.[13] Jeremy begins by introducing the overall theme for the show, before going into each sub-story and always tying it back to the main theme. He then ends the show with a short conclusion with his thoughts on the theme and how it will affect the industry as a whole, following this with a blooper reel.

The MMOrgue is filmed live every Tuesday at 19:00 PST, and is released on the following Saturday in the morning.[14]
